Gregory Spears is the composer of Walden, a song cycle based on the writings of Henry David Thoreau, commissioned by Vocal Arts DC. The world premiere performance is Sunday, September 16th at 2 pm in the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater. The concert features baritone Brian Mulligan and pianist Timothy Long. Also on the program is a song cycle by Dominick Argento based on the Diary of Virginia Woolf. Classical WETA's Nicole Lacroix spoke to Gregory Spears about his concept for Walden.
