Classical WETA evening host James Jacobs speaks with cellist Amit Peled about his performance of Saint-Saëns' cello concerto with The Apollo Orchestra at the Kennedy Center Terrace Theatre on Sunday, March 10 at 6 pm, as well as his recent recording of Johann Sebastian Bach's Cello Suites nos. 1-3 on the same instrument Pablo Casals used for his iconic recording of these masterworks in the 1930s. Mr. Peled talks about the way his thoughts on the concerto have evolved since he first studied it at age 12, and tells the story of how Casals' widow Marta Istomin lent him her late husband's 1733 Goffriller cello.
