Reading Rainbow Contest

The WETA Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Contest is a competition for children in kindergarten through third grade.

Children from the Washington area write and illustrate original stories and submit them to WETA to enter the contest. More than 45,000 children enter this nationwide contest each year.

WETA congratulates all the kids who entered this year's Young Writers and Illustrators Contest! We loved reading your stories.

Reading Rainbow airs weekdays at noon on WETA TV 26.

How to enter

The deadline to submit entries for the 2008 contest has passed. Please check back in January for information about next year's contest!

Awards and prizes

Every child receives a certificate of achievement signed by Reading Rainbow host LeVar Burton. The first place winners in each grade also receive a variety of prizes and advance to the national competition.
